PORTLAND, Maine. – In front of the largest crowd in their history at 6,361, the Maine Mariners posted a 4-2 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Sunday at the Cross Insurance Arena. It was the final game of the season for both teams, who had both not made it into the playoffs.

The Mariners’ Matthew Philip scored first in the game in the first period on Thunder goalie Henry Welsch to start the scoring for Maine. 

In the second period, the Mariners scored two goals within 11 seconds apart from Brooklyn Kalmikov and Linus Hemstrom to go up 3-0. Later in the period, Mariners’ Robert Cronin scored to take a 4-0 lead to end the second period. 

In the third period, Mariners’ goalie Brad Arvanitis kept the Thunder scoreless until late into the period as Adirondack players Dan Ebrahim and Josh Filmon got on the board. 

On Fan Appreciation Night after the game, Mariners players saluted the fans and thanked them before leaving the ice. The Mariners finished the season at 33-35-4, while the Thunder closed the season with a 26-41-3 record.
