NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. –  The South Carolina Stingrays lost 5-1 to the Adirondack Thunder at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, following a win the previous night against the same team. Jamie Engelbert scored the only goal for the Stingrays and goaltender Garin Bjorklund stopped 29 of 33 shots he faced.

After a scoreless first period, the Thunder’s Alex Young gave Adirondack a 1-0 lead at 7:59 of the second period. The Thunder doubled their lead nearly seven minutes later when Andre Ghantous sunk his fourth goal of the season. The second period ended with Adirondack leading 2-0.

In the third period, two breakaways were successful, give the Thunder a 4-0 lead. Engelbert scored, snuffing out Adirondack’s goalie Jeremy Brodeur‘s near shutout. In a final push, former Stingray Kevin O’Neil scored an empty net goal, finishing the game at 5-1.

The Stingrays play again at home, on Friday November 29, against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
