ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wednesday night hosted an AHL North Division match-up between the Rochester Americans and Belleville Senators. What was a tightly contested match up in the first two periods, gave way to the Sens completely dominating the third period, coming out with a 4-1 victory.
The Sens got their scoring started in the first by getting a short handed goal from Rourke Chartier. They would give up one more penalty in the period but the score sheet would remain the same.
The Amerks scored their first and only goal in the second on the power play by Mason Jobst.
In the third, the Senators would take over the game, scoring first by Angus Crookshank. Crookshank continued his all star season, leading the Sens in goals (19) and points (38). Josh Currie, and Garrett Pilon got the third and fourth goal respectively.
Mads Sogaard stopped 27 of 28 shots to get the win for the Sens, while Devon Levi stopped 32 of 36 shots faced for the Amerks.
The Amerks remain third in the North Division, with the Sens right behind them in fourth. These teams will face each other again in Belleville this Friday.
Other notes from the night: the Bavarian pretzels served at the concession stands are very good, and one minute is too long for the push-up contest intended for children, although very funny to watch.
