COLUMBUS, Ohio – Thursday night, the visiting Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus. After a scoreless first period, the Canes needed only 52 seconds of the second period to open the scoreboard, Teuvo Teravainen registered his 18th goal of the season. Later in the period, Sebastian Aho, made 2-0 for Carolina. However, the Blue Jackets did not go away, and 2 minutes after, Cole Sillinger scored for Columbus, making it 2-1.

Carolina did let go off the gas pedal with a goal by Brady Skjei late in the second period. Alex Nylander made it 3-2 in the final period, but an empty netter with 14.2 seconds left in the game sealed the win for Carolina.
