BRIDGEPORT, Conn – The Bridgeport Islanders welcomed the Charlotte Checkers for the first of a two-game battle in Bridgeport on Friday. The Islanders are currently last place in the Atlantic Division and East Conference, while the Checkers are fighting for third place in the Atlantic Division against the Wilkes-Barre Penguins.

The Checkers ended the first period with two goals and then a third goal in the second period. The Islander’s Maggio scored a goal in the third period, but it was too little, too late as the Checker’s scored an empty net goal to seal the victory. The final score of 4-1 for the Checker’s victory gave the Checker’s third place in the division.
