LAVAL, QC – The Charlotte Checkers secured a 2-0 series lead with a win over the Laval Rocket in Laval, on Thursday. The game was marked by escalating tensions, even before the game started, during warmups, both teams gathered in center ice to exchange words. Physical altercations and penalties dominated the narrative. Notably, a heavy collision in the second period resulted in the injury of Laurent Dauphin, who did not return to the game. The Rocket’s frustration was evident as they struggled to contain the Checkers’ offense, leading to multiple penalties and a lack of offensive momentum. The Checkers secured their victory with a 5-2 score.

The Rocket now face a critical juncture as the series shifts to Charlotte. To stay alive in the playoffs, they must secure at least two victories at Bojangles Coliseum. The team’s resilience and ability to adapt will be tested as they aim to overcome the Checkers’ dominance and regain their footing in the series.
