CEDAR PARK, Texas. – Saturday night, the Texas Stars defeated the Chicago Wolves 4-3 in overtime at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

After an evenly matched nineteen minutes and fifty-two seconds, Justin Hryckowian opened the scoring with a backhand shot through the five-hole of Wolves’ goaltender Dustin Tokarski, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Scott Morrow tied the game 1-1, while on the power-play, he skated into the Stars’ zone and beat Magnus Hellberg with a quick wrist shot from the right-wing circle. In a repeat of the first period, the Stars would once again score in the final minute of the period when a rebound off a Cameron Hughes wrist shot bounced off a Chicago defender and into the net, giving the Stars a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

Curtis McKenzie added to the Stars’ lead midway through the second period when he buried a loose puck at the top of the crease past Tokarski, giving the Stars a 3-1 lead with just over ten minutes remaining in the game. Justin Ribidas cut the Stars’ lead to one when the Wolves pulled Tokarski in favor of an extra attacker and Robidas received a back-door pass from Domenick Fensore and wristed it past a diving Hellberg pulling the Wolves within one with 1:52 remaining in the game. Juha Jääskä sent the game to overtime when once again with the extra attacker and only twenty seconds remaining on the clock, he put a wrist shot from the left-wing circle high blocker side on Hellberg, tying the game 3-3.

In overtime, Arttu Hyry would net his 23rd goal of the season and seventh game-winner, when he faked forehand and slid a backhand shot past a diving Tokarski to secure the victory for the Stars.
