CEDAR PARK, Texas. – Sunday evening, the Texas Stars defeated the visiting Chicago Wolves 4-0. With the win, the Stars move into first place in the Central Division and only two points back from a tie for first in the Western Conference.

Curtis McKenzie opened the scoring for the Stars at the midway point of the first period when he backhanded a loose puck at the top of the goal crease past the glove hand of Wolves goaltender Dustin Tokarski, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Cameron Hughes put the Stars up 2-0 at 10:39 in the second period when he skated into the Wolves’ zone, toe dragged around one Chicago defender, and deked forehand before going backhand, avoiding a diving poke check from Tokarski. The Stars would take a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.

Justin Hryckowian put the Stars up 3-0 early in the third period, when on the power play he collected a loose puck in the Chicago crease and jammed it five hole on Tokarski. Antonio Stranges capped off the scoring for the Stars when he one-timed a no-look between-the-legs pass from Hughes, high blocker side.

Remi Poirier earned the shutout victory, stopping all 29 shots he faced.
