CEDAR PARK, Texas – Saturday night, the visiting Chicago Wolves defeated the Texas Stars 4-3 thanks to a three-goal third period. With the win, the Wolves completed the weekend series sweep of the Stars and pulled to just one point of tying the Stars for third place in the Central Division.
Justin Hryckowian put the Stars on the board first at 9:10 in the first period when he slapped a one-timer pass from Antonio Stranges past Wolves netminder Ruslan Khazheyev. Felix Unger Sorum tied the game 1-1 with a power play goal just over five minutes later with a wrist shot from the high slot. The two teams would enter the first intermission tied 1-1.
Chicago outshot the Stars 9-6 in the second period, but neither team would score.
Antonio Stranges regained the lead for the Stars two minutes into the third period when he batted a rebound out of midair and past Khazheyev, making it 2-1. Just like in the first period, the Wolves answered back with a goal from Ryan Suzuki. With the goal, Suzuki extended his point streak to six games. Bradly Nadeau gave the Wolves their first lead of the game with a massive slap shot from the top of the right wing circle that beat Remi Poirier high blocker side. The lead would be short-lived as Cameron Hughes tied the game 3-3 with a backdoor tap in from Arttu Hyry. Rookie defenseman, Scott Morrow would score the game-winning goal for the Wolves when he tapped in a pass from Unger Sorum that bounced past Poirier and propelled the Wolves to their third win in a row.
