CEDAR PARK, Texas. – Saturday night, the Texas Stars defeated the Cleveland Monsters 5-4 in front of their 11th sold out crowd of the season at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

Jordan Dumais opened the scoring 12:52 in the first period with a snap shot from the slot that beat Stars goaltender Magnus Hellberg, blocker side. Chase Wheatcroft tied the game 1-1 just over four minutes later when he deflected an Alexander Petrovic wrist shot past Monsters Goaltender Pavel Cajon. The two teams would go into the first intermission tied 1-1.

Matej Blümel gave the Stars their first lead of the game just 46 seconds into the second period. On the power play, he blasted a one-timer from the top of the right-wing circle past Cajon’s blocker. Matthew Seminoff extended the Stars’ lead and tallied his first goal of the season when he collected a loose puck in the high slot and batted it past Cajon. Joseph LaBate cut the Stars lead to one when he redirected a sharp angle shot from Rocco Grimaldi past Hellberg. Blümel recorded his second power-play goal of the night with a quick snap shot off a pass from Cameron Hughes giving the Stars a 4-2 lead. Drew Bavaro put a wrist shot from the top of the right circle past a screened Hellberg to bring the Monsters to within one goal going into the second intermission.

Max McCue tied the game 4-4 7:03 into the third period when he collected a puck bounced off the end boards on a dump in, and wristed high blocker side past Hellberg. With only 46 seconds remaining in the game, Blümel sent the hats flying, completing his first professional hat trick when he collected a rebound off a shot from Petrovic and wristed it past a diving Cajon securing the victory for the Stars.
