CEDAR PARK, Texas. – Saturday night, the visiting Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the Texas Stars 3-2 in overtime for the second night in a row. Daniel Sprong scored the overtime-winning goal 1:53 into OT. Philipp Grubauer stopped 27 of 29 shots for the win in his first game with the Firebirds. Stars goaltender Magnus Hellberg left the game late in the first period with an injury and was replaced by Remi Poirier. Both Stars goals were scored by former Firebirds Cameron Hughes and Kole Lind.
