CEDAR PARK, Texas – Friday night, the Texas Stars defeated the visiting Colorado Eagles 3-2, thanks to a late third-period goal from Arttu Hyry and a game-winning overtime goal from Kyle Capobianco.

After an evenly matched first period where both teams had numerous scoring chances, it would take until the 14:14 mark of the second period before Stars forward Arttu Hyry fired a one-timer pass from Kyle McDonald past Eagles netminder Adam Scheel, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead. The Stars would take the 1-0 lead into the Second intermission.

The Eagles tied the game with a power play goal 42 seconds into the third period. Jere Innala put a quick snapshot, from the right-wing circle past Remi Poirier. Ivan Ivan would put the Eagles in the lead with a power play goal with less than three minutes remaining in the third period. Hyry would tie the game with just over a minute remaining in the third period when Texas pulled Poirier in favor of an extra forward. Antonio Stranges found Hyry at the top of the goal crease for a tap-in goal and sent the game to overtime.

Colorado controlled much of the puck possession early in overtime until Capobianco intercepted an Eagle Pass, skated it into the high slot, and beat Scheel glove side with a wrist shot.
