BIRMINGHAM, Ala – The Birmingham Bulls faced off against the Evansville Thunderbolts Friday night at the Pelham Civic and Ice Complex. The Birmingham Bulls took a 4-1 victory.

Birmingham’s #15 Carson Rose, started the scoring at 1:33 of the first period with an assist by #19 Drake Glover. Less than a minute later, Evansville’s #9 Matthew Barnaby, tied the game up at 2:17 of the first period. The first period ended with a combined 26 shots on goal, but tied at 1-1. The second period was lively, with multiple penalties, a Birmingham goal by #17 Michael Gillespie at 10:15 and a fight between Birmingham’s #74 Kyler Matthews and Evansville’s #10 Bronson Adams at 15:44. The second period ended with the Birmingham Bulls having a 2-1 lead over the Evansville Thunderbolts. The third period picked up right where the second had left off with penalties, fights and goals. At 2:12 of the third, Evansville’s captain #17 Matthew Hobbs initiated a fight with Birmingham’s #74 Kyler Matthews. Then at 4:12, Birmingham’s #7 Nikita Kozyrev, scored an insurance power-play goal to give Birmingham Bulls a 3-1 lead. More penalties and scrums later, Birmingham’s #15 Carson Rose scored his second goal of the game at 13:29 to extend the lead to 4-1. The game ended with the Birmingham Bulls defeating the Evansville Thunderbolts 4-1. Evansville’s goalie #33 Cole Ceci saved 44 of 48 shots and Birmingham’s goalie #80 Hayden Stewart saved 33 of 34 shots faced. The three stars of the game were Birmingham’s #15 Carson Rose (1st Star), #91 Arkhip Ledziankou (2nd Star) and #74 Kyler Matthews (3rd Star).
