ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs took on the Fayetteville Marksmen Friday night, shutting them out with a 5-0 victory.
The first period went almost scoreless, but with roughly three minutes left, Nick Ford netted the puck, with help from Mac Jansen and Gustav Müller. That was all the team needed to turn up the heat in the second period. Tommy Munichiello had a short-handed goal and Billy Roche scored with a nice pass from Bryce Martin.
The third period saw Roanoke shutting down any chances of an offensive play from Fayetteville. Dawgs’ forward Brenden Stanko got his first goal of the season. Tommy Munichiello worked with Carson Gallagher for goal number five.
Friday’s win marked the 96th for Dawgs goalie, Austyn Roudebush, with 26 shot shutout. He is now tied with Eric Levine for third place, for SPHL most victories for a goalie.
