JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Friday night, in a post-Thanksgiving matchup, the Jacksonville Icemen faced the visiting Florida Everblades. The Icemen took the win with a 2-1 victory in overtime.

Jacob Panetta gave Jacksonville a 1-0 lead, six minutes into the period with an unassisted goal from a Florida turnover. Later in the period, Jacksonville’s Craig Martin missed an opportunity to extend the Icemen’s lead, after being awarded a penalty shot that netminder Cam Johnson kept out. Florida’s Oliver Chau tied the game up at the 16:46 mark of the second period, and after a scoreless third period, OT was required. Riley Fiddler-Schultz netted the game-winner for Jacksonville, at the 4:43 mark of OT. Jacksonville lacked offensive zone pressure throughout the game, with Florida outshooting Jacksonville 34-15. Jacksonville’s netminder Matt Vernon turned away 33 of the 34 shots he faced, earning himself the #1 Star of the game.
