JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thursday night, the Jacksonville Icemen faced the Florida Everblades for the first of a three-game back-to-back series between the two teams. The Everblades, who are currently the top team in the entire ECHL, took a 3-2 victory.

The game remained scoreless in an evenly matched first period, with Jacksonville outshooting Florida 11-9.

All five goals in the game came during the second period, with Oliver Chau wrapping the puck around Matt Vernon to score the game’s first goal 32 seconds into the period. Jacksonville’s David Koch tied the game up at 5:24, picking up the rebound from a Brendan Harris shot.

Jesse Lansdell put the Everblades back on top at 9:11, with the puck deflecting off him and into the net. A Brenden Harris backhand feed from behind the net set up Icemen captain Christopher Brown‘s goal at 11:24 to make it a 2-2 tie game.

Oliver Chau scored his second on the night and what would be the game-winning goal at 17:17 of the period during the man advantage on a powerplay. Florida outshot Jacksonville 13-9 in period two. Like the first period, the third period saw no more goals, with Jacksonville outshooting Florida 9-6.

The two teams matchup Friday night, for Jacksonville’s Teddy Bear Toss game.
