SAVANNAH, Ga. – On Saturday, the Savannah Ghost Pirates once again squared off against the Florida Everblades — this time for their Fan Appreciation Night. Coming off a highly physical and emotionally charged contest the night before, anticipation was high for another intense showdown.
The Ghost Pirates delivered a strong, consistent offensive performance, scoring one goal in each period to secure a 3-0 shutout victory. Impressively, all three goals came from recently signed players, showcasing the team’s promising new talent.
Goaltender Keith Kinkaid was the star of the night, turning away all 23 shots he faced to record a shutout. His stellar performance earned him the game’s first star and was instrumental in keeping the Ghost Pirates on top against one of their fiercest rivals.
While the level of physicality remained high throughout the game, most of the friction resulted in minor penalties — until tensions boiled over in the third period. Just 4:49 into the final frame, Savannah’s Devon Paliani had seen enough from Florida’s Logan Lambdin and dropped the gloves. Paliani was assessed a fighting major, while Lambdin received only a roughing minor. As both players were escorted to the penalty box, Paliani continued jawing at Lambdin and showed further aggression, leading the referees to issue a game misconduct for being the aggressor.
As he was ejected and skated off the ice, Paliani, bloodied from the altercation, spit in the direction of the Everblades bench — a fiery exit that summed up the raw emotion still simmering from the previous night’s battles.
Despite the flare-up, the Ghost Pirates stayed focused and disciplined, closing out the game in control. The shutout win was a statement on home ice and a perfect sendoff for the regular season’s final fan celebration.
