
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Icemen continued their Military Appreciation Weekend on Saturday night with the first of a two-game series against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Jacksonville took a 4-0 shutout win, giving Icemen netminder Justen Close his third shutout of the season and extending the team’s point streak to nine games.
Lordanthony Grissom got the scoring started for Jacksonville with his first goal as an Icemen player at 6:43 in the first period. Liam Coughlin passed the puck to the former Greenville player Grissom, who was wide open, and shot the puck past Kolby Hay. Olivier Nadeau scored on the power play to make it 2-0 at the end of the first period. Jacksonville outshot Greenville 12 to 6. After a scoreless second period, which saw Justen Close stop all 15 shots faced, Noah Laaouan scored at 9:23 of the third period. Laaouan had picked up assists on the first two goals for a three-point game. Bennett MacArthur capped the night off with an empty-net goal at 17:20, for the 4-0 victory. The two teams will face each other again on Sunday afternoon.
