NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays defeated the Greenville Swamp Rabbits 5-2 on Wednesday night, earning their fifth straight victory. Scoring for the Stingrays was Ben Hawerchuk, Tyler Weiss, Romain Rodzinski, Ryan Hofer, and Jayden Lee, while goaltender, Seth Eisele, stopped 27 of 29 shots.

The Stingrays scored first when Hawerchuk scored his fourth goal of the season with a shot that found the top right corner.

Early in the second period, Greenville managed to tie up the game. Sam Coatta maneuvered into the zone and took a shot that bested Eisele, bringing the score to 1-1. Weiss regained the lead for South Carolina by scoring his 16th goal of the season with a wrist shot. Rodzinski widened the gap to 3-1 with a shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and beat Greenville goalie Kolby Hay, marking Rodzinski’s third goal in the last five games. Hofer further extended South Carolina’s lead to 4-1 by executing an impressive between-the-legs goal.

Jacob Ingham took over in the net for Greenville after the Stingrays gained a 4-1 lead. Greeneville narrowed the gap after Jack Brackett scored his first professional goal in his debut pro game, making it 4-2.

Greenville pulled Ingham with three minutes left in the game, then Lee scored an empty netter with 1:11 remaining, sealing South Carolina’s 40th win of the season.
