ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wednesday at Blue Cross Arena was host to the Rochester Americans versus the Hartford Wolf Pack. This night was also a sensory-friendly night – lower music levels, no goal horn, no flashing lights, no vuvuzelas, and dimmer lighting throughout the arena bowl. This did not deter either team from playing a hard fought competitive game though, as the Americans would defeat the Wolf Pack 6-5.
Just 11 seconds into the game, Riley Nash of the Wolf Pack would sneak one by the Americans goaltender Dustin Tokarski. Two minutes later Ryder Korczak would score again for the Wolf Pack. Just before the end of the period Tyson Kozak scored on the Wolf Pack netminder Dylan Garand and made it 2-1.
Brennan Othmann of the Wolf Pack got the scoring started in the 2nd period, but after that it would be the Americans scoring the rest of the period. Isak Rosen, Ethan Prow, and Brett Murray all got goals in the 2nd. The Americans would end the period in the lead 4-3.
Again in the third Brennan Othmann got the scoring started. Karl Henriksson got another for the Wolf Pack, and got his team ahead. However Jiri Kulich tied it back up for the Americans, and then Michael Mersch would deliver the final blow with about six minutes left in the game.
Dustin Tokarski of the Americans finished the night stopping 25 of 30 shots, and Dylan Garand of the Wolf Pack finished with 18 of 24 shots stopped.
