DULUTH, Ga. – Saturday night brought hockey back to Duluth for the start of the 2024-2025 season, as the Indy Fuel made the trip down south to take on the Atlanta Gladiators at Gas South Arena for opening weekend. In a game where both teams were evenly matched throughout the entire 60 minutes of play, a power play goal by Cody Sylvester in the first period was enough for the Gladiators to take home their first win of the season, with a 1-0 victory. Outstanding goaltending was seen at both ends of the ice as Peyton Jones stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced for Indy, while Atlanta’s Drew DeRidder stopped all 25 shots for a shutout.
