CEDAR PARK, Texas. – Tuesday night, the visiting Iowa Wild defeated the Texas Stars 4-1 thanks to a 3-goal third period and a 33-save performance from Samuel Hlavaj.

Michael Milne put the Wild on the board 8:50 into the first period when he intercepted a pass in the neutral zone, skated into the slot, and put a wrist shot high glove side past Stars goaltender Magnus Hellberg. It appeared that the Wild had scored their second goal of the night with only 62 seconds left in the first period, but after review, the goal was disallowed due to a kicking motion. The Wild would take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period where the Stars outshot the Wild 15-8, the Wild would add to their lead 1:38 into the third period when Luke Toporowski collected a rebound at the top of the crease and tucked it past the right pad of Hellberg, giving the Wild a 2-0 lead. Jack Becker cut the Iowa lead in half when he received a pass at the bottom of the left-wing circle and wristed a shot high blocker side past Hlavaj. Travis Boyd secured the victory for the Wild with an empty-net goal with just under 2 minutes remaining in the game. Tyler Madden capped off the night with a second empty-net goal with only 23 seconds remaining in the game.
