CEDAR PARK, Texas – Wednesday night, the visiting Iowa Wild defeated the Texas Stars 6-2.

Adam Raska put the Wild on the board first, scoring the fastest goal in team history just nine seconds into the first period. Travis Boyd followed with a second goal six minutes and twenty seconds later with a wrist shot from the right-wing circle that beat a heavily screened Remi PoirierLiam Öhgren put the Wild up 3-0 with a sharp-angle wrist shot over the right shoulder of Poirier. The Wild would take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Ben Jones added to the Wilds’ lead early in the second period when he pulled Poirier out of position with a fake shot and wrapped the puck around the diving netminder into a mostly open net. Jack Becker put the Stars on the board at 6:13 in the second period with his second goal in as many nights, making the score 4-1 early in the second period. Iowa responded late in the second period with a goal from Hunter Haight the Wilds’ fifth goal of the night prompted a goal change for Texas, with Magnus Hellberg entering the game in relief of Poirier. Iowa also made a change in net with Samuel Hlavaj replacing William Rousseau due to what appeared to be sickness. The Wild would take a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.

Emilio Pettersen made it 5-2 late in the third period with a quick shot off a faceoff win that beat Hlavaj, high glove side. Travis Boyd scored his second goal of the night with an empty-netter at 16:23 in the third.
