MACON, Ga. – The Knoxville Ice Bears traveled to the Macon Coliseum on Saturday night to face off with the Macon Mayhem.

The Ice Bears were able to jump to an early lead as Jimmy Soper fired one past Bailey Birkin giving the bears a 1-0 advantage through the first period.

In the second period the Ice Bears were hot as Jimmy Soper found the net again for his second goal of the game. Lucas Helland was assessed a five minute major which allowed the Mayhem to capitalize on a power play with Dan Winslow finding the net to put the Mayhem on the board, in his 100th SPHL game.

The opening of the third period saw the Mayhem come alive as Matteo Ybarra was able to get the puck past Hunter Virostek to tie the game at 2-2. The Ice Bears did not take the goal lightly as just seconds later Dawson McKinney scored to put the Ice Bears back on top 3-2. The Mayhem continued to rally as Zach Nazzarett was able to score once again. Dawson McKinney was able to give the Ice Bears two more goals to give them a 5-3 lead and completed a hat trick in the process! Dan Winslow would score his second goal of the game to bring the score to 5-4 but the Mayhem were not able to capitalize any further and the Ice Bears took the win and were able to clinch a playoff spot.
