ROANOKE, Va. – After a disappointing loss Friday night, the fans returned Saturday hoping for a win. It was Game 3 in the first round of the 2025 President’s Cup Playoffs, in which the Knoxville Ice Bears eliminated the Rail Yard Dawgs with a final score of 6-2.
Knoxville was fast on the start, as the tension from last night’s game was still in the air. Roanoke built some momentum with a goal from Carson Gallagher, assisted by Brenden Stanko. That tied the score, 1-1 at the end of the first. That seemed to fire the Ice Bears up even more. By the end of the second, they led 4-2. Roanoke’s Tommy Munichiello scored in the third period, bringing fans to their feet. It was an empty net goal from Knoxville’s Jimmy Soper, that sealed the win for the Ice Bears.
