ROANOKE, Va – There was celebration in the air, as Roanoke and Knoxville fans gathered at the Berglund Center, with all kinds of New Years Eve party gear! The Dawgs ended the year with a 5-4 win over the Ice Bears.

Both teams were well matched, as they took turns leading the game. The first period saw Roanoke take a 2-1 lead, outshooting Knoxville 20-5.
The teams would tie it up at the end of the second period, as Knoxville goalie Troy Kobryan kept turning away shots.

The third period saw the teams tie it up again, 4-4. Overtime did not last long, as 22 seconds into the OT period, Roanoke’s Dominiks Marcinkevics was fed the puck on a quick pass by Brendan Pepe, resulting in the game-winning 5th goal. Knoxville’s Kobryan saved 47 of 52 shots, while Roanoke’s Austyn Roudebush saved 17 of 21 shots.
