ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans took on Laval Rocket on Wednesday night in a game that had fans on the edge of their seats up until the final whistle. Both teams took penalties in the first period, but neither the Rocket nor Americans were able to capitalize on their power plays. The second period looked like it was going to hold the same fate until Graham Slaggert put the Amerks on the scoreboard.

Laval went into the third period looking for a comeback and found themselves with a 2-1 lead after Luke Tuch and Alex Barré-Boulet each scored. Anton Walberg was quick to level the score for Rochester, scoring just 13 seconds after Laval’s power play goal and sending the game to overtime.

OT began with palpable anticipation in the arena, and shot attempts from both teams were almost effortlessly saved by goaltenders Jakub Doběs and Michael Houser. Laval found themselves with a power play after a penalty was called on Rochester, and Logan Mailloux took the opportunity to net the game-winning shot, for the 3-2 OT victory.
