ROANOKE, Va – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs’ annual Family Weekend started off with a bang, as they broke a four-game loosing streak with a 7-3 win over the Macon Mayhem Friday night.

The first period set the pace as the Dawgs hit the back of the net four times before the first intermission, setting a dominating pace for the rest of the game. The Blue Ridge Figure Skating Club provided some beautiful entertainment during the first intermission.

The highlight of the game was the hat trick from Roanoke’s Jacob Kelly. The player’s families joined the rest of the crowd, as the noise level grew when the Dawgs raised their sticks to the fans in celebration of the win. Dawg’s goalie Austyn Roudebush saved 27 of 30 shots. Macon’s Jimmy Poreda saved 11 of 15 shots. Macon switched goalies in the second period, allowing William Lavalliere to save 20 of 23 shots.
