NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals welcomed the Maine Mariners to Scope Arena for a weekend series on Friday. The Admirals wore uniforms representing Chesapeake, Va. as part of their season long series of wearing uniforms of different cities in the “757” area code.

It was a very entertaining first period, with plenty of back-and-forth action. The Mariners scored in the first two minutes of the game. The first period would end tied at 2 -2.

The Admirals had the better of play in the second period and seemed to take control of the game out shooting the Mariners 16-7, to take a 4-2 lead.

During the third period, Norfolk seemed to control the pace and offensive zone time. However, the Mariners would make it a one-goal game in the last five minutes. The Mariners would pull their goalie, but could not capitalize, and the Admirals scored an empty net goal to close out the game. The final score was 5-3 to Norfolk.
