WHEELING, W. Va. – The Maine Mariners visited the Wheeling Nailers on Sunday afternoon. Neither team scored during the first period, but the Mariners found the back of the net in the second period. The Nailers responded with a goal in the third to tie it up and force the game into overtime. During OT, the Mariners had a power play, but the Nailers were able to successfully killed it off and neither team would score. The game went to a shootout, where Maine converted on 2 out of 3 shots, while Wheeling scored on just 1 of 2 attempts, giving the Mariners a 2-1 victory.
