WORCESTER, Mass – Playing their last game before the Christmas break, the Worcester Railers found themselves needing another third-period comeback. They scored four goals, in their most recent come-from-behind win over the visiting Maine Mariners, to take a 6-3 victory.
Maine would start the game scoring quickly, getting two goals in the first 3:23. Brooklyn Kalmikov would light the lamp at 2:38, with Alex Kile giving the Mariners a quick 2-0 lead 45 seconds later, at the 3:23 mark. Worcester’s Jake Pivonka would light the lamp at 16:52, cutting the Maine lead in half 2-1, as the first period ended .
The two teams would trade goals in the second period, with the Mariner’s Brooklyn Kalmikov quickly getting his second goal of the game at 4:32. Worcester forward Keeghan Howdeshell would get the Railers back to within one goal, coming at the 16:56 mark of the second period.
The third period scoring was all Worcester, with Daylan Kuefler scoring his first professional goal to tie the game 3-3, coming at 4:44. Railers captain Anthony Repaci put the home team ahead 4-3 at 7:52. Daylan Kuefler would score his second goal of the period at 12:44, giving the Railers a 5-3 lead, and Worcester’s Trevor Cosgrove would add an empty net goal at 18:44 for a 6-3 final score.
