WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers started their three-in-three weekend series on Friday with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the Norfolk Admirals.
Railers defenseman Ryan Verrier would start the scoring with a shot from the slot, beating Admirals goalie Thomas Milic at 3:25 into the first period. Aaron Miller would tie the game at 11:47, and Norfolk forward Denis Smirnov would give the Admirals a 2-1 lead heading to the second period, with his goal coming with 47 seconds left in period one.
The second period would only see one goal scored by either team. Worcester would tie the game on a shot from the right point by Artyom Kulakov.

At the start of the third period, Riley Piercey gave the Railers a 3-2 lead quickly at the 1:39 mark. Brandon Osmundson would tie the game again at the 15:31 mark for Norfolk, setting up a three-on-three overtime to decide the game’s outcome. In OT, the Railers would create most of the opportunities, with Railers captain Anthony Repaci setting up in front of Admirals’ goaltender Thomas Milic to create a screen. Blade Jenkins shot from near the blue line and found the back of the net, giving the Railers the two points and a win.
