WORCESTER, Mass.- ” Oh what a night ” On Saturday evening the Worcester Railers hosted the Norfolk Admirals before an announced sellout crowd of (7094) at the DCU Center.
The Railers would need another third-period comeback, to win the game 4-2 in regulation. The evenings theme was Worcester Ice Cats. The arena was filled with many fans wearing retro Ice Cats jerseys, hats, and gobbling up all the retro merchandise offered for sale. Present for the evening included Scratch, the mascot who along with Railers mascot Trax, entertained the fans all evening. Former Ice Cats were also there, including Shaun Kane, who received one of his game worn jerseys, a gift from booster club president Rich Lundin before the game.
The game would have Norfolk taking a 2-0 lead in the first period, carrying that lead to the third period. The Admiral goals were scored by Danny Katie and Keegan Iverson. The third period would have Jake Pivonka getting the Railers on the board at 1:42. Railers captain Anthony Repaci would tie the game at 2-2, netting his 61st career Railers goal, surpassing Barry Almeida as the all-time goal leader. Connor Welsh would give the Railers the lead at 3-2 (GWG), and Anthony Callin added an empty net goal to seal the win. John Muse shut the door on the Admirals for the final two periods, 26 saves on 28 shots.
