NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 2024-25 season opening night for the South Carolina Stingrays was a strong showing for newly appointed head coach Jared Nightingale. Returning goaltender Mitchell Gibson covered the crease for S.C. and made 23 saves, leading the team to a 4-3 overtime win over the Orlando Solar Bears.

During regulation play, Grant Cruikshank, Kyler Kupka, and Charlie Combs scored for the Rays in front of a 6,000 + crowd at the North Charleston Coliseum. Thirty-six seconds into the OT period, Micah Miller scored the game-winning goal.
The Stingrays are next home on October 26th, when they take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
