JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Friday night the Jacksonville Icemen faced the Savannah Ghost Pirates for the first of two back-to-back preseason games at the Community First Igloo. The Igloo is the Icemen’s headquarters and practice facility and has hosted the preseason matchup between the two teams for the third straight year.
Savannah took a commanding 5-1 victory over Jacksonville, outshooting them 42-17. Will Riedell opened up the scoring for the Ghost Pirates in the first period, with Riese Gaber giving them a 2-0 lead, with his goal in the second. Zach Jordan scored the lone goal for the Icemen in the third period to bring it within one. Power play goals by Ben Steeves and Logan Drevitch, ended any comeback chances for Jacksonville and a goal by Liam Walsh with 30 seconds left in the game, sealed the win for Savannah.
The two teams will face each other again on Saturday at 7 pm.
