LOWELL, Mass. – PWHL Boston punched their ticket to the Walter Cup Finals Tuesday with their overtime win over PWHL Montréal. Boston took a commanding 2-0 lead, winning both games while on the road.

Montréal’s captain, Marie-Philip Poulin opened the scoring in the first. That goal would be the lone tally in the first frame. Maureen Murphy would score her first of the playoffs, adding to Montréal’s lead in the second. Boston can’t be counted out though as Sophie Shirley cut Montréal’s lead to 1 in the early minute’s of the third. While Alina Müller was in the box for a boarding, Amanda Pelkey would tie the game on a jailbreak goal.

For the third game in a row, overtime would be necessary to crown a winner. Just 62 seconds into overtime, Susana Tapani would score, sending Boston onto the finals. Tapani played the hero in the first game as well, getting Boston the win.

Boston now awaits the winner of the Toronto-Minnesota series to play for the Walter Cup.
