ROANOKE, Va/ – The Dawg House was full of excitement as the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs welcomed the Quad City Storm. The Dawgs weathered the Storm with a 6-3 win.

Both teams exploded on the ice, with fast play on both ends of the rink. The Dawgs got on the board first, thanks to Nick Ford, and by Joe Widmar scoring in his debut as a Dawg. At the end of the first period, it was 2-1.

Scoring opportunities continued into the second period with each team having power play chances, on both sides. Tommy Munichiellos goal made it a 3-1 game, with Quad City’s Johnny Witzke scoring about 100 seconds later. The back and forth continued, with Roanoke being the main beneficiaries. The second period ended with a 6-3 score.

The third period saw a rare Mac Jansen fight with Storm winger Nick Pennucci, as the Storm tried to get the puck past Roanoke goalie Austyn Roudebush. Roudebush stopped 20 out of 23 shots on goal. Quad City goalie Tyson Brouwer stopped 16 of 22 shots before being relieved by Ron Salmenkengas, who stopped all 4 shots he faced.
