ROANOKE, Va. – 6000+ Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs fans filled the Berglund Center for Military Night on Saturday when the team faced the Quad City Storm. Time was taken to recognize those who served, and the Dawgs wore specialty military-themed jerseys. The Dawgs took a 7-6 win in overtime. The Storm did not make it an easy win, with multiple fights and action-filled plays from both teams.
Nick Ford and Joe Widmar both set a single-game franchise record for most points earned in one game, with six points awarded to both, contributing to the first weekend sweep of the season. Gustav Müller would prove that Dawg’s tenacity would pay off in the end, as he scored the game-winning goal in OT.
