NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals faced off against the Reading Royals for the Admirals last home series of the season, on Friday night. The Admirals were playing as the Virginia Beach Admirals, as part of their season-long city series, where they represent one of the cities in the 757-area code.

The first period was an entertaining one with both teams seeing scoring chances, but neither team could break through for a goal. The period ended scoreless with Reading having the slight advantage in shots, outshooting the Admirals’ 12-9.

The second-period scoring started quickly with Reading scoring within the first minute. The rest of the period was all Admirals, as they scored the next five goals of the period. The energy was high all period with several dustups and fights throughout the last 10 minutes of the period. Norfolk led in shots in the period 15-7 and on the scoreboard 5-1.

The third period had plenty of action, if you like UFC mixed in with your hockey. There was no scoring, not that weren’t some chances. Most of the of the period kept the linesmen busy separating combatants. Norfolk out shot Reading 9-5 in the period and the total for the game was 33 – 24 for the Admirals. Both teams racked up over 200 minutes in penalty time, with numerous misconduct calls on both teams. The final score was Norfolk 5 Reading 1.
