FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen and the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs faced off Saturday night at the Crown Complex. The Fayetteville Marksmen took a 9-6 victory on their opening night.
The game was action-packed from the start, as the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs wasted no time scoring their first goal less than a minute after the opening puck drop. Despite the early goal and aggression by the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, the Fayetteville Marksmen began to dominate in scoring, leaving the score 5-3 after the first period.
In the second and third periods, the Fayetteville Marksmen were able to maintain an aggressive edge over the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. Although the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs were able to put a few more goals on the board during the second and third periods, the Fayetteville Marksmen closed out their opening night with a 9-6 win, setting a strong tone for the season ahead.
A standout player of the night was Grant Loven of the Fayetteville marksmen, leading the team in scoring with 1 goal and 3 assists.
