CEDAR PARK, Texas – Friday night, the visiting Rockford IceHogs defeated the Texas Stars 2-1.

It looked like the Stars would take a 1-0 lead early in the first period when Matej Blümel appeared to have tapped in a rolling puck that trickled past IceHogs netminder Drew Commesso. The goal would be overturned after a review determined it to be put in the net with a kicking motion.

Frank Nazar, Rockfords leading goal and points leader would add to those totals when he buried a one-timer pass from Brett Seney past Stars netminder Remi Poirier, giving the IceHogs a 1-0 lead. Rockford would make it 2-0 less than 10 minutes later when Gerry Mayhew received a pass from Zach Sanford on an odd-man rush and beat Poirier with a wrist shot high glove side.

Texas would get the lone goal in the second period when Antonio Stranges extended his current goal streak to 5 games with a spin around wrist shot that beat Commesso high glove side. With the goal Stranges now has points in the last 6 games.

The Stars would out shoot Rockford 9-3 in the third period but ultimately could not get anything past Commesso and the IceHogs would hang on to win 2-1.
