NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays battled hard but came up short in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Savannah Ghost Pirates on Sunday afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum, with 5,000+ hockey fans in attendance. Goaltender Ryan Kenny made his debut with the Rays and delivered a solid performance with 24 saves. Despite taking 42 shots on goal, the Stingrays could not overcome the Ghost Pirates’ offensive attack, led by Reece Vitelli‘s two goals and Devon Paliani’s game-winner in overtime.

After a quick first-period response from Kyler Kupka—who scored a power-play goal to tie it 1-1 after Savannah took the lead—Vitelli’s second-period power-play tally put the Ghost Pirates ahead again. But Jace Isley was the hero for the Stingrays in the third period, scoring 1:50 into the frame to send the game into overtime with a 2-2 scoreline. In overtime, Paliani’s slap shot sealed the victory for Savannah.
