PHOTOS: Springfield Thunderbirds vs. Bridgeport Islanders – 01/10/2024

BRIDGEPORT, Conn – The Springfield Thunderbirds visited Bridgeport to face off against the Bridgeport Islanders on Wednesday night.

The Islanders currently sit in last in the Atlantic Conference, while the Thunderbirds sit in the middle of the standings. A couple of wins for Springfield could easily put them in third place and on the heels of the second place Bruins.

The scoring started quickly with the Islander’s Jeff Kubiak scoring two goals in the first period while the Thunderbirds only recorded a single goal in the period. Bridgeport extended their lead further with another goal and it wasnt until the third period that the Thunderbirds scored twice to tie the game. The game went into overtime with Bridgeport having a strong rush but couldn’t capitalize, and then immediately followed by the Thunderbirds ending the game on a goal from Calle Rosen with a 4-3 OT victory for the Thunderbirds.
