ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wednesday night, the Rochester Americans hosted the Springfield Thunderbirds at Blue Cross Arena. Both teams battled hard but the Amerks came out on top, winning 4-2. 

Jack Rathbone scored the first goal of the night for the Amerks. The Thunderbirds responded later in the period when Otto Stenberg scored. Right before the end of the first period, Matthew Pecca (not related to Sabres alum, Michael Pecca) scored again for the Thunderbirds.

The only goal scored in the second period was Anton Wahlberg  for the Amerks, tying the game up at two goals a piece.

In the third period Isak Rosen scored again for the Amerks to put them in the lead. Late in the period, Noah Ostlund scored an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Amerks.

Devon Levi got the win for the Amerks, stopping 26 of 28 shots faced. Colten Ellis played great for the Thunderbirds, stopping 26 of 29 shots faced.

The Amerks secured a playoff spot with this win, their sixth consecutive season doing so.
