ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans hosted the Syracuse Crunch on Friday night. The game was fought hard, and was taken to overtime where the Crunch would come away with a 3-2 victory.
The Amerks got off to an early start, scoring two goals in the first period – the first by Brandon Biro, and second by Mason Jobst. These would be the only goals the Amerks would produce all game. The Crunch came back strong in the second period and scored two goals of their own – Daniel Walcott getting the first and Devante Stephens getting the second.
An uneventful third period led to the game going to overtime, where Waltteri Merelä would score for Crunch in the final goal 38 seconds inthe OT period.
Devon Levi started in net for the sixth time for the Amerks and stopped 22 of 25 shots faced. Matt Tomkins won the game for the Crunch, stopping 19 of 21 shots faced. The Crunch are now first in the North Division, with Amerks trailing them in fourth.
