ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wednesday afternoon at Blue Cross Arena was host to the Rochester Americans versus the Syracuse Crunch. An injury-ridden Amerks team had their four-game win streak ended with a 5-2 loss to the Crunch.
Former Buffalo Sabre Conor Sheary got the night’s first goal for the Crunch, with Jesse Ylonen getting the assist. Brett Murray responded for the Amerks and the period ended 1-1. Both teams stayed out of the penalty box in the first.
The Crunch dominated the second period – Dylan Duke scored halfway through the second and Ylonen got another assist. Shortly after that Logan Brown scored again for the Crunch. Isak Rosen got a goal for the Amerks a minute after that. The Crunch would expand their lead again thanks to Gabriel Fortier. Only one minor penalty was given up by the Crunch.
In the third period both teams gave up a couple penalties, but neither team was able to take advantage of the advantage. With only a few minutes left in the game Duke scored an empty net goal for the Crunch with Ylonen getting his third assist.
Brandon Halverson got the win for the Crunch and stopped 31 of 33 shots faced. Devon Levi stopped 23 of 27 shots faced for the Amerks.
