WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Syracuse Crunch faced off on Sunday Afternoon at the Mohegan Arena. The Syracuse Crunch took a convincing 6-1 victory.
The Penguins lit the lamp early in the first period when Mathias Laferriere scored at the 3:15 mark. Late in the first period Tristan Allard tied the game at the 16:16 mark. The second period was an uninspiring period of hockey as both teams seemed to be going through the motions. Syracuse took the lead on a goal by Anthony Angello late in the period. Heading into the third it was still anybody’s game as neither team was outplaying the other. Syracuse opened the game up halfway through the period on a goal by Conor Geekie. Late in the third Syracuse put the game out of reach with 2 goals in a span of 33 seconds to close out the game.
