CINCINNATI, Ohio. – On New Year’s Eve, the visiting Toledo Walleye defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2 at Heritage Bank Center.

Hunter Johannes opened the scoreboard 12:22 into the first period for the Walleye, but Cincinnati responded with twoback-to-back goals before the first intermission. Mathieu Gosselin scored his fifth of the season at the 13:50 mark, and Chris Dodero made it 2-1 Cyclones with less than two minutes left in the first period.
Tyler Spezia tied the game up early in the second period, and Colin Swoyer scored the winning goal for Toledo late in the third. Goaltender Carter Gylander made 30 saves for the Walleye.
