WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers faced off against the Trois-Rivières Lions on Saturday evening, at the DCU Center in the first of a two game set between the North Division rivals for the weekend. The Trois-Rivières Lions would jump out to a first period 4-0 lead, and eventually end up with a 5-2 win over the Railers. But the evening was highlighted for the Worcester fans in attendance as a 25th Anniversary remembrance, and Honoring of the Six Worcester Firefighters who lost their lives on December 3rd, 1999, battling a horrific fire at the Worcester Cold Storage building on Franklin St. in Worcester.
The Railers game was followed ny the traditional Worcester Firefighters Hockey team vs. the Worcester Police team game, in which the Firefighters regained the Ceremonial Cup. Members of both teams would participate in events throughout the evening, including Ceremonial Puck Drops, Locker room line-up announcements, Specialty Jersey auctions, and fundraising activities for the Worcester Six foundation.
