CEDAR PARK, Texas – Friday night, the visiting Tucson Roadrunners ended the Texas Stars‘ five game win streak defeating them 6-3 at the H-E-B Center.

Christian Kyrou gave the Stars a 1-0 lead early in the first period with a wrist shot from the high slot that snuck past Tucson goaltender Matthew VillaltaKailer Yamamoto tied the game 1-1 five minutes later when he put a slap shot from a Stars turnover past Magnus HellbergCurtis Mckenzie regained the Stars’ lead in the final thirteen seconds of the period when he redirected a pass from Justin Hryckowian past Villalta giving the Stars a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Curtis Douglas tied the game 2-2 late in the second period leaving him one assist short of a Gordie Howe hat trick after his late first period fight with Kyle LooftCameron Hebig gave Tucson their first lead of the night with a one-timer from the left wing circle. 

Cameron Hughes tied the game 3-3 early in the third period with a one-timer from the right-wing circle that was identical to the Hebig goal during the second period. Hebig would score his second goal of the night and the eventual game-winner with just over two minutes to play. Tucson added two more empty net goals including a third from Hebig completing his first career hat trick.
